Our Practice in Gainesville

Dr. Heather Moose Starling is a board-certified optometric physician and has been practicing in Gainesville for over 25 years. Her areas of focus include primary care optometry and diagnosing and managing ocular diseases. She also has a special interest in how nutrition affects the eye and overall health.

Dr. Starling received her B.S. in biology from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY and her B.S. in visual optics from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree in 1995 from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, PA. She completed her residency in primary care optometry and ocular disease at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, PA. In 2017, she achieved the status of Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry.

She is also a member of the National Glaucoma Society and a professional member of the American Diabetes Association.

Dr. Starling began Starling Eye Group in 1998 and has a passion for providing excellent care. She implements technology and instrumentation that help make it possible to provide service at a high level of precision and personalization.

In her leisure time, Dr. Starling enjoys spending time with her husband, Troy, her daughter, Reagan, and her Golden Retriever, Sophie. Dr. Starling enjoys wakeboarding and boating with her family, traveling, and going to Gator football games.

Lauren is a certified paraoptometric assistant and apprentice optician. She has been with Starling Eye Group since 2015. Lauren attended the University of Hawaii and has a bachelor’s degree in environmental science with a minor in project management.

Her favorite things include spending time with her family, being outdoors, and taking day trips to the beach.

Stephanie is an optometric technician. She has been with Starling Eye Group since the beginning of 2023.

She spent 8 years in the theatre community and looks forward to spending more! Her favorite things include spending time in nature, watching horror movies, spending time with her fiancé, and playing bass guitar.

Melayna is a certified paraoptometric technician currently attending the University of Florida, where she studies psychology. After graduation, she plans to attend optometry school and one day hopes to be an optometrist with her own practice.

Outside of work, Melayna enjoys reading, going on walks, hanging out with friends, and visiting family.

Sarah is an optometric technician and a recent graduate from the University of Florida, where she studied biology with the intent to become an optometrist. She discovered her passion for providing high-quality patient care through her work as a volunteer first responder.

In her free time, Sarah enjoys playing classical guitar, painting, and spending time with friends and family.

Catherine is an optometric technician graduating from the University of Florida with a bachelor of science in biology.

She enjoys reading, going on walks, and finding new places to eat in Gainesville.
